UPPSC Exam Calendar 2020: Uttar Pradesh Public service Commission (PCS) has released the updated exam calendar for the year 2020. The UPPSC PCS (Prelims) Exam 2020 will be conducted on 11th October 2020. The exam was scheduled to be conducted on June 21 but was then postponed until further notice due to the coronavirus pandemic. What is UPPSC PCS?

UPPSC UPPCS 2020 exam postponed. The UPPSC issued a public notice on June 8 postponing the UPPCS 2020 exam to a future date because of the corona pandemic. The new exam dates for the UPPSC 2020 exam will be announced later.

UPPCS is the popular name of the exam – Uttar Pradesh Combined State/Upper Subordinate Exam conducted by Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC). The UPPCS is the name derived from Uttar Pradesh Provincial Civil Services. UPPSC had issued the UPPSC PCS 2020 notification on April 20. The number of vacancies is around 200 but are liable to increase.

The UPPCS exam is conducted to recruit state government functionaries in provincial civil services and other state services. These functionaries get their posting in various important departments such as land records, land revenue, general administration and the likes.

UPPSC PCS Eligibility Condition 

The candidates should check all the eligibility conditions before filling the UPPSC PCS 2020 application form. The commission may cancel the candidature of any candidates at any stage of recruitment. The eligibility criteria for UPPCS exam is given below.

Educational Qualification

The candidate must be a graduate to appear in the UPPSC PCS exam 2020. The candidates who are appearing in their graduation degree exam can also appear in the exam but they need to submit their final year mark sheet at the time of UPPCS main exam Detailed Application Form (DAF) submission. 

The candidates having any percentage in the degree course can fill the UPPCS application and can appear in the PCS exam. Besides, there are some specific educational qualifications required for some posts. The details are given below.

UPPSC PCS Age limit

The common age limit for all the positions is:

Important Note: Skilled players of U.P. of Classified Games, State Govt. Employees of U.P. including Teachers/Staff of the Basic Shiksha Parishad of U.P. and Teachers / Staff of the Government Aided Madhyamik Vidyalayas of U.P. i.e. they must have not been born before 2nd July 1974.

UPPSC Vacancies for PCS Exam

The candidates are always curious about the number of vacancies in the UPPSC UPPCS exam. The number of vacancies is a very important factor in arriving at the cut-off in the preliminary and main examination. There is a direct relationship between the cutoff and the number of vacancies in the exam. The number of vacancies also work as a motivation factor for aspirants. The number of vacancies in the UPPSC PCS 2020 notification is 200 but it will increase because of the requisition from the various department is not received yet.

The last UPPSC UPPCS notification had notified 300 vacancies.

UPPSC PCS Selection Process

The UPPSC conducts the exam on the pattern of UPSC IAS Exam. The UPPCS exam has three stages selection process and the candidates must pass all the three stages of the UPPCS exam to qualify the exam. The stages of the selection process are given below.

The commission issues UPPSC PCS answer key for the prelims exam. The candidates can check their answers and can raise objections on wrong answers in the provisional answer key.

1. UPPCS Prelims Exam

Prelims exam is the first stage of the UPPCS selection process. UPPSC conducts the prelims exam across the state in offline mode and around eight lakh candidates appear in this exam. This year, the UPPSC UPPCS prelims question paper was not in consonance with the previous year papers. The UPPSC UPPCS prelims 2019 has set a new trend of General Knowledge-based questions. 

2. UPPCS Main (written) Exam

UPPSC conducts the UPPCS main exam on the pattern of UPSC Main (written) exam. The UPPSC UPPCS main exam pattern can be summarised as follows:

UPPSC PCS Personality Test (Viva Voce)

The personality test is the last stage of the UPPSC UPPCS exam. The commission has assigned 100 marks to the personality test, which makes it an important factor in deciding the final rank. The personality test revolves around the current events and the Detail Application Form (DAF) filled at the time of the main exam. 

The UPPSC conducts the personality test in the commission’s office premises and the candidates need to go to Prayagraj for the personality test. 

After the personality test, the UPPSC results will be declared. It will pave the way for the selection.

Q. What is the difference between IAS and PCS?

Ans. IAS means Indian Administrative Services and PCS means the Provincial Civil Services. IAS is one of the three All India Services. The recruitment for IAS is done by the Union Public Service Commission. PCS is the state civil services recruited through the State Public Service Commissions.

Q. What is the educational qualification required to become a UPPSC PCS?
